Fact Archive

I like facts. Particularly the ones that make you think about something that perhaps you hadn’t thought about before, or the ones that you’ve always wondered about but never knew for sure. So, rather than forget them,  I thought I would create this blog to capture the facts that I hear about as they appear…

1. There are 10 x as many bacteria in your stomach as there are cells in your entire body

2. Between feeding, excavating nest cavities and drumming, woodpeckers can peck up to 20 times per second, or a total of 8,000-12,000 pecks per day. Plus they don’t get headaches from pecking. They have reinforced skulls structured to spread the impact force, and their brains are tightly cushioned and protected.

3. The correct name for a female donkey is jenny and the correct name for a male donkey is jack.
